Wedding Ceremony

The bride's mother welcomes the groom at the venue and washes his feet. This ritual is done by the bride's father in Karnataka's wedding traditions. This is named as Seemant Pooja. Afterward, the bride along with her family goes to worship the goddess Parvati. This ritual is named as Gaurihar Pooja. Following this pooja, the Antarpat ritual takes place in which a shawl is placed between the bride and the groom to restrict them from seeing each other until the priest completes chanting the mantras. The Sankalp ritual is the next in which the shawl is removed and the couple exchanges a look and garlands. Then when the bride's father takes her hand and places it on that of the groom, he ties the mangalsutra around the bride's neck. The Kalyan wedding matrimony ends there when the couple takes 7 rounds around the fire and the guests are served food.

Post-wedding

The post-wedding ceremony in the Kalyan marriage rituals is mostly the same as that all the Southern states are following. The bride will go the groom's house where she is received by her mother-in-law. The rice bowl is kicked off and the couple enters the house with their right foot first.
